Join us as we wind down the 16 Days of Activism and reflect on the impact of Gender-based Violence (GBV) on our campus community.
This vigil will serve as a space to mourn the lives lost and affected by GBV, acknowledging the work that still needs to be done to end violence against women, and looking ahead to the positive steps now being taken to create a safer and more supportive environment for all.
Through the voices of speakers from across the University, both students and staff, we will hear insights about the initiatives being implemented to foster a culture of respect and inclusivity.
The event will feature powerful readings of survivor poetry, a moment of silence to honour those affected by GBV, and a symbolic white ribbon ceremony, symbolising our collective commitment to end GBV.
This event is not only an opportunity to commemorate those who have been harmed but also a chance to reaffirm our dedication to creating a campus where everyone feels safe and respected.
Although the event is hosted in the University Chapel, the event is not religious or tied to any one faith. The Chapel is an Interfaith safe space for all students and staff to find peace and quietly reflect.
We invite you to join us as we collectively reflect on the past, celebrate the progress made, and pledge our commitment to a brighter future free from GBV.
Afterward, please join us in the Welcome Point reception of the McIntyre Building for hot drinks and light refreshments.
