About

The Glasgow University Swimming & Water Polo Club (GUSWPC) caters for all standards, from beginners at swimming and water polo to experienced competitive swimmers.

If you're not so keen on swimming competitively, we pride ourselves on being a social/recreational club too. We cater for recreational swimmers and our training sessions allow all members to reach their goals!

Water polo provides the perfect opportunity for those comfortable in the water to try something new. It is a fun way to test your stamina and combine different disciplines of swimming, communication, strength and teamwork. Most players who join are novices to the sport, but after giving it a go, get hooked on the fast pace and tactics involved during matches.

Competing

Both swimming and water polo teams compete on a regular basis throughout both terms, battling it out at home and away matches. If you do not want to compete, we always welcome supporters to all our home matches and after at a social event.

We also take part in other major competitions such as British Universities Championships, British University Swimming league and the Scottish University Swimming and Water Polo Championships! Our trophy cabinet is never empty and we can boast winning both the Men's and Women's Water Polo leagues in 2021-22.

Training

See the Club Sport Training Timetable for training times, or check out our social media channels for the latest updates.

Insurance

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate insurance cover for any activity you take part in.  Upon joining, please check the level of insurance cover we, as a club, provide to you.

GUSA recommends that all students playing high risk sport, go abroad to compete/train, or are playing in governing body leagues, may want to consider/need to take out personal liability insurance, or join the sports governing body to be covered.  Some insurance providers also offer specialist sports cover.
