We run regular trips to surf spots around Scotland and abroad, host infamous weekly socials and organise weekly yoga and Yoga and Surf-Skating sessions in Glasgow. We're all about inclusivity and everyone is welcome, from pro shredders to total beginners. If you’re looking to try surfing for the first time; want access to top of the line equipment on the cheap or just want to meet a bunch of likeminded outdoorsy people then we’re the club for you! This page gives an overview of our society but for more information and any FAQs head on over to our new website, http://glasgowunisurf.com For all the information on our next events and when/where they’re happening, check out our Instagram. Come along and chat to any of our committee or shoot the page a message with any Questions!
Competitions
We compete in BUCS down in Cornwall every year and Scottish surf championships in Aberdeen, taking teams to support and represent the University. To round out the year we have a big club competition called foamie fest where everyone competing has to ride ‘beginner foamies’! As most of our members are new to the sport this competition is run to give everyone the chance to compete and show off what you’ve learned throughout the year!
Trips
The most important part of the club are our regular trips around the UK and Abroad! We run around 8 daytrips a semester to the East coast for a day out at the beach and to give people a chance to practice their surfing. On these we often take registered coaches so even if you’ve never surfed before, we’ll have the right people there to teach you!
As well as this, we run 2 overnight weekend trips a semester to hostels around Glasgow. These are a great opportunity to get to know other members of the club as well as getting in 2 hangover surfs! Finally, we have our foreign trips to Morocco and Spain which we run over Winter and Summer. These are also brilliant opportunities to meet new friends and try surfing somewhere a little bit warmer than Scotland! These trips are always open to absolutely every member of the club, and everyone is welcome to come on them, although they often sell out quick! Members can come to as many or as few as they would like
Training
To train on land, we organise a weekly Yoga Session and have our own collection of YOW Surf-skates which we use to run surf-skate training sessions as often as possible (Glaswegian weather permitting). Most importantly, there is never any obligation to come to these sessions, they are relaxed training sessions that all skill levels are welcome to come and improve their skating and mobility, or even just come along to watch and have a chat!
Socials
Here in Glasgow, we have a social every week – Thursday night at the pub followed by a club night to somewhere in town. These are always themed or games socials, (Ou Est La Poulet, Pub golf) or costume-themed (Hawaiian shirt), plus big events like the sub crawl, ceilidhs, Christmas dinner, Burns night and Halloween flat crawl! Even if you aren’t interested in surfing or trips, everyone is still welcome to come along to the socials and meet some new friends!

Insurance
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate insurance cover for any activity you take part in. Upon joining, please check the level of insurance cover we, as a club, provide to you.
GUSA recommends that all students playing high risk sport, go abroad to compete/train, or are playing in governing body leagues, may want to consider/need to take out personal liability insurance, or join the sports governing body to be covered. Some insurance providers also offer specialist sports cover.
See you all out there!
