About

Glasgow University Lacrosse Club (GULC) runs a variety of teams and training sessions, catering to a range of different skills sets.

Whether you are a new or an experienced player, we have something to offer for everyone. The great thing about GULC is that it is a mixed club with both men and womens teams which is great because our members are able to meet so many different people and fully make the most of their university experience. We pride ourselves on being one of the most welcoming clubs on campus, creating a friendly environment for all, socially and competitively, with no experience necessary to join. It is a great way to make friends and keep up your personal fitness whilst playing and developing Lacrosse skills.

Competitive

We currently run five teams, including three BUCS League teams. As of 2024, two of our BUCS teams compete in the top Scottish tier league. Teams Our three BUCS league teams are:

  • Men's 1’s Team (Men’s Scottish Tier 1)
  • Women's 1st Team (Women’s Scottish Tier 1)
  • Women's 2nd Team (Women’s Scottish Tier 2)

We also have two non-competitive teams:

  • Women's 3rd Team (new from 2023)
  • Women's Recreational Team

Development team

The women's development team meets once a week for training, and is open to anyone who wants to come along and play. This is open to anyone to come along and play lacrosse with no pressure to come every week. As for our men’s there is no recreational slot but they are able to come along to any of the men’s team training sessions and play. We have a mix of friendly tournaments, leagues and matches throughout the year to allow for the mixed ability of the club. We have plenty of opportunities for everyone whether a new or experienced player to play at various competitive levels if they want to and the option to play recreationally if not. At the start of the semester we have a taster session that is open to everyone, have a look on our social media for more info!

Training

We run multiple training sessions throughout the week with all teams training twice a week and women’s recreational session once a week. All sessions are coached practices providing drills, tactics training and practice games to hone and develop all levels and skillsets. Sessions are facilitated with shuttle busses before and after sessions which run from the Fraser Building and Botanical Gardens to the off-campus Garscube Sports Complex. We can provide equipment for both mens and womens training sessions, all you need to bring along is yourself! Get in touch with us via social media or email if you need any more info. Please see the Club Sport Training Timetable for training times.

Socials

We run organised full club socials events on most Wednesday evenings. Standout events include our annual subcrawl, Families night, pub-golf, Lacrosse Ball, and festive events such as our Christmas club dinner. Socials are a great way for our club to mix between teams and build on pitch-side friendships. We also run a variety of fundraisers throughout the year, so everyone can get involved in giving back, at a local and national level.
