We hold weekly training sessions at Kynoch Gym, where our members can learn from experienced coaches. Many of our coaches have successfully taken fighters to professional ranks, demonstrating the expertise and high-quality training available at our club.

Boxing Scotland and Glasgow University Boxing Club

Boxing Scotland is the national governing body for amateur boxing in Scotland. It is affiliated with the International Boxing Association [AIBA] and oversees the sport’s development, regulation, and promotion at all levels, from grassroots to elite competition. Its key responsibilities include:

Coaching and training: providing qualifications and training programmes for coaches to ensure high standards

Competitions and championships: organising local, regional, and national events, including the Scottish National Championships and the University Championships in Scotland. Club members can participate in Boxing Scotland-sanctioned events, ranging from local tournaments to national championships, increasing exposure and experiences.

Affiliation: now we are affiliated, we have access to official competitions, resources, and insurance. The affiliation now provides the club and our members with credibility, showing that club adheres to the highest standards of safety, ethics, and coaching.

Membership: to compete or participate in any of our fights or Boxing Scotland championships, you MUST be a member of Boxing Scotland through this link; this also means paying the £5 membership fee with Boxing Scotland. This allows you not only to compete but have medical checks and extra safety precautions for fights

Where to find the Link: the Link for Boxing Scotland Membership is in our Linktree on our Instagram!

Insurance

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate insurance cover for any activity you take part in.  Upon joining, please check the level of insurance cover we, as a club, provide to you.

GUSA recommends that all students playing high risk sport, go abroad to compete/train, or are playing in governing body leagues, may want to consider/need to take out personal liability insurance, or join the sports governing body to be covered.  Some insurance providers also offer specialist sports cover.

Join Glasgow University Boxing Club today and become a part of our vibrant community, where passion, discipline, and friendship intertwine to create an unforgettable boxing experience. Try something new, build on past experiences or make friends. All are welcome.
