About

Whether you've been riding since before you could walk, or you've never even been near a horse before, Glasgow University Riding Club (GURC) looks forward to meeting you

We offer riding lessons for all abilities as well as the opportunity to compete in BUCS. We are also proud to be 2016's GUSA club of the year.

Our stables, Busby Equitation Centre, is easy to access through public transport and has a wide variety of horses and ponies to ride.

Teams

We currently have four competing teams as well as a reserve team. Teams are made up of four riders who compete in BUCS Equestrian competitions. Riders compete in one dressage test and one jumping round on a horse drawn randomly from the hosting team's stable. Last year three of our four teams competed at the regional level, with the C Team winning and therefore qualifying for the national competition!

Recreational Riding

Whether you've never been near a horse before or you're an established rider without an urge to compete GURC has a lesson that'll suit you. Lessons run in two blocks, one each semester, and you'll be placed in a weekly lesson with those of similar ability. With lessons running nearly every day you can pick one that suits your timetable and other activities! Our flexibility makes us a perfect club to join if you’re only in Glasgow for a short time.

Socials & Equine Events

This year we plan to have a range of social events for all members to get involved in. Highlights include our annual pub 'canter', Christmas dinner and of course GUSA ball. We have also teamed up with GU Fencing for bigger social events. We also run Equine events, we hope this year to have our first ever horsey holiday to celebrate the end of the academic year.
