Looking to meet new people this summer? Whether you're a postgraduate student, visiting the university over the summer, or new to Scotland, come along to our East & Southeast Asian Summer Social!

Inspired by the lively atmosphere of an Asian night market, this event is a chance to relax, meet new people and experience a blend of East & Southeast Asian and Scottish cultures. Enjoy familiar ESEA snacks alongside Scottish favourites and discover a little of what each has to offer.

What to expect:

While you create, enjoy a free coffee from the Eco-Hub (covered by the SRC) and a selection of sweet treats and snacks. Bring a friend and enjoy a relaxed, low-pressure space. All materials are provided by the SRC, just drop in!

SRC at 'No Pride in Genocide' 2026 (18/07/2026, 10:30)

The SRC will be attending the No Pride in Genocide sit-in on Saturday 18 July.

We’ll be heading to Glasgow Green, where No Pride in Genocide will be gathering alongside Glasgow’s Pride before holding a sit-in rather than joining the main march.

The sit-in has been organised as a grassroots Pride space and as a protest against the corporate sponsorship and corporatisation of Glasgow’s Pride. It will also centre solidarity with Palestine and the idea of Pride as protest.

As in the previous two years, the SRC Executive has made the decision to support this alternative Pride space. This follows student feedback and ongoing conversations about the values Pride should reflect.

All University of Glasgow students (and staff) are welcome to join us, whether you’d like to stay for the full event or just drop in.

SRC Meeting Point

If you’d like to travel with the SRC group from campus, we’ll be meeting outside the front of the McIntyre Building on University Avenue at 10:30am before heading to Glasgow Green together.

We’ll also have a second meeting point at the McLennan Arch at Glasgow Green at 11:00am. From there, we’ll head over together to join the No Pride in Genocide group.

Students are welcome to join us at either meeting point, or to make their own way to the event.

Transport

The nearest major public transport links include High Street station, Argyle Street station and St Enoch Subway, though some onward walking may be required depending on your route.

Take a break from the screen, research, and deadlines to join us for a relaxing Book Scavenger Hunt at the University Library with Book Society, part of the PG Summer De-Stress Programme!

This fun individual challenge invites you to explore the library in a new way. You'll receive a list of topics and clues, then set off to find book titles that match each category. Along the way, you'll discover interesting books, uncover hidden gems within the collection, and become more familiar with the wide range of resources available to support your studies.

🏆 Prizes: The top three participants who correctly identify the most book titles in the shortest time will win a prize.

Please note, this is not a team activity. Please be mindful of the individuals studying in the space, as well as the library staff while completing the scavenger hunt. There is no running permitted or any disruption to other Library users.

Join us for a day trip to Stirling — one of Scotland’s most historic cities. From guided tours to castles and galleries, this is a great opportunity to explore somewhere new while spending time with fellow students.

During the trip, we will:

🏛️ Take part in a guided tour of Stirling’s Old Town

🏰 Visit Stirling Castle or explore the Stirling Smith Art Gallery with the SRC staff – the choice is yours!

📸 Spend the rest of the afternoon discovering Stirling at your own pace – visit local shops, cafes, and tourist attractions

Travel & Activity Costs:

🚌 We will be travelling by coach from the University of Glasgow Main Gate. Please arrive at the Main Gate at 09:00. We will return to campus at approx. 16:30.

🏰 Stirling Castle: £1 entry with a valid Young Scot Card or £20.50 standard admission

Take a break from dissertations and APRs to switch into full “rock mode” for the evening. Follow Dewey Finn’s chaotic journey as he turns a strict private school classroom into a competition-worthy rock band.

This is a low-pressure, drop-in event designed for postgraduates to unwind, switch off from academic thinking, and enjoy a fun, light-hearted film with others on campus.
