Once Upon a Time the musicians of Glasgow University came together for a night of dancing, feasts, and magic! Bring your glass slippers and wear your crowns because this will be a happily ever after to remember…

The GUMC is excited to host the 2026 Music Ball at Oran Mor once again and you are all invited!

The feast includes three courses:

Starter

Carrot and Ginger veloute with Coriander Creme Fraiche (v)

Main

Classic Chicken Balmoral with seasonal greens and whisky sauce

Vegetable risotto with vegan pesto and crispy shallots (v)

Dessert

Chocolate Mousse

Chocolate brownie with hazelnuts and ice cream (vg)

Unfortunately we are having issues with the meal selection, so choose any option for now. We will be in touch to confirm meal choices and seating arrangements in the near future.

West Coast Swing Beginner Class (10/04/2026, 19:00)

Join us to learn the basics of West Coast Swing – a dance for any music, with any partner!

Open to anybody - no membership or experience required. The class will be completely beginner-friendly, with all concepts taught from scratch. By the end you’ll have learned the rhythm, timing and enough basic patterns to start social dancing on your own.

No partner required: you'll have the chance to dance with everybody, as we will rotate partners throughout the class.

Class will run from 7-8:30pm, followed by free practice/social dancing until 10pm.

Tickets are £3 (students) & £5 (non-students).
We can take cash on the door, or buy your ticket on our SRC event here.
Entry from 8pm for social dancing only will be FREE.

The New Seven-Cup Serenity Tea Ceremony is a contemporary tea gathering designed to support wellbeing in the context of modern fast paced and high-pressure lifestyles. Participants are invited to immerse themselves in a calm, harmonious, and comfortable environment, quietly experiencing tea and meditation together. The ceremony follows a structured process that includes elements such as a tea chant, an opening verse, tea words, tea drinking, and closing remarks. The tea service team also undertakes careful preparation, including the aesthetic arrangement of the tea space, the selection of water and aged tea, appropriate brewing techniques, safe temperature control, and training of the tea service team. All teas used have been aged for more than 10 years and are clean, pure, and carefully prepared.After the meditative part of the ceremony, participants are invited to share tea treats and engage in informal conversation.

Want to make managing your club or society easier – and way more exciting? This one-hour online session will show you how to use the My Club Portal, your go-to space for everything from events and memberships to merch sales and member comms.

By the end of the session, your club/society page will be more than just a place for info – it’ll be a fully interactive portal where you can:

✅ Manage memberships
✅ Sell merchandise
✅ Host and promote events
✅ Send updates and messages to your members
✅ Write and post news/blogs
✅ Share videos and photos
✅ Upload important documents like your constitution
✅ Create a custom space for students to discover and interact with your group

📢 This training is limited to 75 people per session, so make sure to sign up early. We recommend two senior committee members attend. However, anyone you would like to have permission to make edits on the portal will need to attend the training.

This training session is designed to support all student group committee members in understanding their roles and making the most of their time in office. Clubs & Societies are required to have 2 office bearers attend but we recommend all HEAR Eligible office bearers attend.

🔹 Roles & Responsibilities – A clear breakdown of Office Bearer roles.

Whether you're a President, Treasurer, Secretary or any other committee role, this session will give you the tools and knowledge to lead confidently.

Come along to our exam de-stress ceilidh! Open to everyone, no experience needed! We will have live music and our teachers will guide you through the dances. We would love people interested in dancing and joining the club to come meet us and have fun.

We will be in the GUU dining room, door open 7pm, dancing 7:30-10:30pm, Saturday 16th May. Wear shoes you can dance in and bring plenty of water!

Tickets are £5 and are available online and on the door but we recommend buying in advance in case they sell out!

The Undergraduate DermSoc Conference 2026 - Beyond the Surface: A Fresh Look at Skin is a full-day, student-led event designed to provide an engaging introduction to the field of dermatology for undergraduate
students. The programme brings together trainees, consultants, and specialists to offer another perspective into both the clinical and practical aspects of the specialty, while showcasing the diverse career pathways available within dermatology. The day begins with an overview of the dermatology training pathway, followed by a consultant-led session exploring the realities of day-to-day clinical practice. Attendees will then gain exposure to subspecialty areas, including cosmetic dermatology and skin cancer. Interactive elements such as panel discussions allow attendees to ask questions and discuss with experienced clinicians. In the afternoon, the conference will have hands-on learning through a series of practical workshops. These sessions are designed to go over core dermatological skills and clinical reasoning through case-based discussions. Overall, the conference aims to go “beyond the surface” by combining education, interaction, and practical experience all in a one-day event and is not something to miss!

I thought the earth remembered me, she

took me back so tenderly, arranging

her dark skirts, her pockets

full of lichens and seeds. I slept

The GUMRS Annual Conference is our yearly academic event that brings together distinguished speakers from across multiple disciplines and medical students. The conference offers students the opportunity to gain invaluable insights into medical research and a variety of academic and clinical fields, as well as participate in a series of interactive workshops.

Students are also invited to submit their abstracts to our abstract competition, where successful candidates will have the chance to present poster or oral presentations at our conference.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day in the Gilcrhist from 11:30 to 1:30.

Join us for the inaugural launch of MISSIVE, the arts and culture zine of the Unofficial DADA Society! The launch will take place from 6-9pm on April 16th at The Pyramid at Anderston, the society's chosen charity for the year, with all tickets sold going directly to our donation.

In line with this first issue’s theme of FEVER DREAM, expect a medley of absurdist, fantastical and whimsical poetry, stand-up comedy, and live music (and of course an opportunity to celebrate all things zine!).

This event is supported by grant funding from the Students’ Representative Council, which aims to support and elevate student-led initiatives that create more inclusive, accessible, and engaging opportunities for the wider student community.

The Anatomy Society invites you to join us as we celebrate the end of the academic year by dressing up to the nines and having a fantastic night. This is the biggest event done by the Anatomy Society as we host a three course meal followed by a raffle where fantastic prizes can be won, including some fun anatomy themed wins!

The ball is a great chance to have a night to unwind after a busy and stressful year as we spend the night chatting, laughing, and celebrating individuals with our fun awards.

This event is open to members and non-members of the society as we encourage everyone to join us for a fantastic night, if its first and second years or friends and partners of those studying, we are welcome for any to come!

There will be alcohol available at this event however there is no expectation or pressure to drink. There is also vegetarian and vegan food options to accommodate anyone wanting to attend.

The dress code for this event is black tie as we want everyone to have an excuse to dress up!

Come along and join us at our Annual Ball featuring the wonderful McHart Ceilidh Band. This is our chance to celebrate surviving the toils of the year and celebrate with those who are graduating this summer.

This event is open to all so why not bring along your other half or your friends.

There will be plenty of dancing and fun, a buffet, and the bar will be open for you to enjoy what ever you fancy.

Book your tickets early to grab your chance to get them at a reduced price.

There is no dress code but we encourage you to break out your fav outfit or don your national dress if you have one. We have a tartan theme, so if you have anything tartan to add to your outfit then please do.
